DoomPal Privacy Policy
Overview
DoomPal (“the App”) is a personal scroll-budget companion with a pixel pet in your Dynamic Island. This policy explains what information is used and why.
DoomPal does not require an account and does not operate its own user database.
Information stored on your device
The App stores the following locally on your device (and in an App Group shared with its extensions):
- Your selected pet and display preferences
- Your daily doomscroll budget settings
- Session / usage totals used to show remaining budget
- Whether you completed onboarding
- Your Screen Time app/category selection tokens (if you connect Screen Time)
This information stays on your device unless you back it up through Apple’s normal device backup features.
Screen Time
If you choose to connect Screen Time, DoomPal uses Apple’s Screen Time / Family Controls APIs so your pet can react to time spent in the apps or categories you select.
- Authorization and app selection are handled by Apple system prompts
- Selected apps/categories are stored locally as opaque tokens
- Usage thresholds are processed on-device via Apple’s DeviceActivity APIs
- DoomPal does not upload your Screen Time history to our servers (we don’t run one for this)
You can skip Screen Time and use the App in timer-only mode.
Live Activities & notifications
When you summon your pet, the App may show a Live Activity (Dynamic Island / Lock Screen) and may send a local notification when your budget runs out. These are delivered by iOS on your device.
Advertising
DoomPal shows ads through Google AdMob (banner, app open, and optional rewarded ads). AdMob may collect device and advertising identifiers and usage data to serve and measure ads.
Depending on your device settings and region, this may include:
- Advertising identifiers (such as IDFA, when available)
- Device and app activity related to ad serving
- IP address and general location derived by the ad network
Google’s privacy practices are described here: https://policies.google.com/privacy and for AdMob: https://support.google.com/admob/answer/6128543.
You can limit ad tracking in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and manage personalized ads in Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising.
Data we do not collect
- No DoomPal account, email, or password
- No access to the content of your messages, photos, or browsing history
- No sale of personal information by DoomPal
Children
DoomPal is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
